I never thought my dad had Covid, but I knew something was wrong. On Halloween of 2021, he came down with what we thought was a cold. When I went to visit him on Nov 18, 2021, I got very concerned because he was not eating. He also seemed confused and could not stand or walk. I drove him to the emergency room and we waited over three hours. Finally, I decided to talk him home and call an ambulance. The ambulance got there very quickly and the EMT’s immediately asked me if I thought he had Covid. By this point I figured he did and told them yes.
Two of the medics walked out and the other two tried to tell him to walk and I said he could not. They stood him up and he nearly fell. Finally, they took him out and took him to Mt St Mary’s Hospital.
After that I got little information or communication from the hospital. My dad was isolated the entire time and then did call me to come in until the day he passed. They did not inform me that he was ventilated or what medications they were giving him. I wonder often what happened to my dad and I want answers. I feel like he could of survived if I had kept him home instead.
