The Interview with Laura Galindo
Laura’s Story
Raul Galindo was in the summer of his life. He was a 40 year young man married to his best friend, Laura. Together with their sons aged 11 and 8, life was good.
Covid struck in August 2021. But Raul was not as fortunate as the rest of the family and his symptoms continued to worsen. After nine days he was admitted to his local hospital on August 28th. Little did Laura know that she would never hold her best friend, or her husband’s hand again.
With limited communication from the medical staff, Laura learned Raul was given 10 rounds of Remdesivir as “a Covid cocktail” according to the nurses.
Raul repeatedly refused any offers to be intubated and placed on a ventilator. Laura stood firm, committed to seeing her husband’s wishes were respected.
Some good nurses kept turning him so no fluid collected in his lungs and then there was a shift change. A nurse failed to turn him and his oxygen level fell. Raul developed oxygen toxicity. Infections became a more persistent problems. On September 18, Raul was able to face time with his boys and Laura, giving them what would be his last smile.
On September 24th, Laura was informed that Raul has suffered a heart attack and needed to be intubated. The doctors went ahead with placing Raul on a ventilator. 48 hours later in the evening of Sept 26th, 2021 Raul died.
A happy, healthy, strong, vibrant, loving father and husband, proud American, business owner was lost in large part due to the tyrannical medical system that removed all alternative medical treatments and choices from him. As if great loss was not enough, it was discovered that while in the ICU, his credit card was stolen and someone charged $3,000 to his account.
We grieve with Laura and her children the loss of this incredible man. We honor his life built on courage and love of family and country.
