At some point, they took the bi-pap machine off her - she was just on nasal oxygen. She then told me to "Let her go" - confirming she meant to stop treatment (which we did). She died August 7th. It is my belief that her fate was sealed once they put her on bi-pap machine - I think that accelerated damage to her lungs.

As the family was not allowed to see my mother (the victim), we don't know about specific exchanges she may have had regarding her treatment. We spoke to her daily. On Monday, August 2nd, she told her nurse "at least I'm not getting any worse". We believe (but do not know for certain) that she was put on bi-pap machine on Tuesday, August 3rd and by Thursday, August 5th, doctor was telling us she was dying, had days to live and there were no other alternative treatments available. Starting Thursday, August 5th, we were allowed to see her, as she was moved to comfort care/hospice. When I saw her on Thursday, August 5th, she was on bi-pap machine and restrained. She tried to talk but I could not understand her. At some point, they took the bi-pap machine off her - she was just on nasal oxygen. She then told me to "Let her go" - confirming she meant to stop treatment (which we did). She died August 7th. Big message from us would be - get actively involved in every conversation they have with or about victim. Don't trust them to do right thing. If I had it to do over, I would not have admitted her to hospital or allowed her to be admitted to hospital. She may not have survived at home either but we placed entirely too much trust in the medical community to do what was best for her.

Nancy came down with light symptoms in July of 2021. She lived with her daughter who was away at a horse show. It’s still unclear where or how Nancy would have contracted Covid as she wasn’t around anyone for about 3 weeks. When her daughter came home from the horse show they called her doctor.
